Mehul Odedra
Mehul is addicted to learning and finding solutions to unique problems. Having worked in multiple departments in the blockchain and fintech industries, he is fast to adapt to new environments and excited by change. He is passionate about using blockchain technology to improve the world, applying his skills in mathematics and programming, and helping others succeed.
❓ Questions and answers…
What’s your job position at MELD + what do you do for MELD?
I’m an analyst at MELD. My main role is helping create our banking products through research, networking, or strategizing. I’m also involved in data analytics we do with the marketing team or for on-chain data.
What did you do before working with MELD?
I was a university student studying Mathematics (mainly statistical and computational modules) but also helped start a company creating tailored ethically made t-shirts. I used data analytics to come up with an algorithm that can spit out the dimensions of a perfectly fitting t-shirt based on a few simple measurements but eventually, I left to focus on my degree.
When did you first get involved in crypto?
I was pretty late into the game, I got into crypto in late 2020 but I guess I was aware of it in 2014; one of my close friends was pretty into it and even started mining LTC. But I didn’t really begin to understand its potential until 2021.
What do you like the most about crypto?
What got me interested initially was learning about how DAOs work but lately, I think it is the way that crypto and blockchain technology is revolutionizing the payment space. I know it’s not the most glamorous use case (it might actually be the least!) but it is definitely my favorite since exchanging values is a fundamental part of our society and it’s surprisingly difficult to do in some parts of the world. I really didn’t appreciate this enough until I learned more about how backward our current systems are. It looks pretty on the outside but it is barely functioning!
Do you have any predictions on where crypto will be 5 years from now?
At the minimum, I think it’ll be much better understood by the general public as a technology that can revolutionize the world and from then it will become adopted into most people’s lives in some way. We’ll start to see people using crypto without knowing it or thinking about it, for instance sending remittances or using electric scooters that rely on the Helium network.
What do you like doing outside of crypto and MELD?
I love learning and I love sports. I’m usually doing one or the other. In Particular, I love learning about mathematics and history. Sports wise I’ve been into BJJ and football lately. There’s not much else I do because I probably spend 2/3rds of my time thinking about crypto or MELD!
